O! Say Can You See

Wow!!

Just fucking "Wow!". Not the good "wow" either but that "what the fucking fuck is that" kind of "wow", that "you have to be fucking kidding me" kind of "wow", that moment (those moments) when you witness something truly fucked up (by any normal rational thinking), in a word "Wal-Mart". Wow.

So, I'm in America, specifically the good 'ol U. S. of A. (that's right U.S. twats, America is more than your 50 states) and what can I say other than "wow"?

I've spent several weeks flapping about getting into the country worried that they would refuse me entry especially as I'd be traveling in a U-Haul filled with Frankie's every possession because yeah, that doesn't look like we're moving permanently at all. We were expecting a good 4 hours at immigration searching the van and questioning me. As it turned out they didn't even open the back of the truck and other than a few questions they stamped my passport and let me through (The Mother who was right behind us got hauled in though and searched with a host of questions about me), though only for 90 days which will cause problems later but we'll worry about that nearer the time.
Oh yes, they said that I would not be allowed back into the U.S. for at least two months after I leave, awesome.

Still, I got to drive a truck something I was in a silly way excited about as I love driving and haven't driven a car since March-ish. And Frankie was loving it too because yeah, I'm an arse so lots of unnecessarily heavy breaking and arsing about. Of course at the first opportunity I flicked various people the finger and gave random people the "Nescafe bean shake".

And lo, I arrived. Once through the border we drove straight to The Mother's where we are to spend the next three months (maybe, hopefully not, longer for Frankie) and emptied the truck, rebuilt the bed in the Basement and that pretty much ended our first day here. Of course we went out that evening to buy alcohol...

Morning... Drove the truck to the u-haul place and went to eat... Taco John's... Yep... "wow"... I think it pretty much skipped the stomach, raced through the intestines and went straight to the colon. The body wanted it out and out as fast as was humanly possible. But it had to wait because we then went to... Wal-Mart and... "wow"... Wal-Mart (I refuse to use the "*") people here really are Wal-Mart people. "Wow" is pretty much the word of the day. They have people giving out samples of food, one was "steak" and I don't believe for a second it was cow meat. If it was cow meat I don't what the fuck they fed the poor beast because it was completely tasteless; no wonder everything they eat here is smothered in fucking BBQ sauce. The food here is just "wow". Back where we used to live we could get Pizza, really good frozen Pizza, really, really good, big brand name pizza but can't get it here. Apart from being really good it was around 160 cals per 1/4 (they were big pizza's too) but here in the good ol' fat bastid state the best is 390 cals!! What the fuck? And everything is so fucking processed. Do I sound surprised? I'm really not, I knew all this about the fat bastid nation long before I met Frankie but to see with my own eyes is just... "wow".

And the people!! I swear that IQ dropped about 80 points (and weight up by at least as many pounds) once we crossed the border. Hopefully it's not a representation of the rest of this part of the U.S. but... "wow".

I really haven't got anything nice to say yet (other than the border guys were good enough to let me in so um, great, wonderful people, no seriously, as a first impression it was a good one. Yes they have a job to do and yes I've heard stories about them being little Nazis but the one's I met were friendly. Of course had I been refused I might be telling a different story so yep, take with a pinch of salt if you must).

The USA... "wow" What more is there to say about this "great land"?

Wow...

...

wow...

I think Side-Show Bob says it best with "nnyuh-urgh-huh-uh"...

It's Just Bacon, Damn It

http://just-call-me-frank.blogspot.com/2011/10/stress-creates-rare-fucking-form.html

Stress! Oh-my-fucking-God-stress. They're stressed, I'm stressed, we're stressed but this is about me. I'd rather not write this as a "reply" to their post. I was actually sat here at the laptop wanting to write about today at the same time they were writing but for some reason it didn't seem right. It wasn't because I wanted to see what they wrote first, just the act of sitting here writing about us, them whilst they wrote about them, us didn't feel right. Plus the fact that I haven't been in the right frame of mind to write recently.

What have I got to stress about? Maybe stress is the wrong word but I do have a lot of things on my mind that I am struggling to deal with. Four weeks ago I packed everything I could into one suitcase (an act of stupidity meant I'd booked a flight with a ridiculously small baggage allowance) and flew to different continent to start a new life with my girlfriend (of course there are many happy thoughts about that) leaving behind my friends, my family, my home, a whole load of belongings that I'm sad to have left behind (I'm sentimental). I sold my car, my bike (I swore I'd never sell that bike), my bike gear, ... the list would be long. So many memories... I've already written about it so I won't go on too much but I do still think about it all a lot. I wouldn't say I'm home sick, I don't particularly have any desire to be back in the UK other than missing friends but I can't help but feel sad a lot of the time. I can't help the thoughts that pop into my head and I spend a lot of the day with nothing else to do but think about things.
I am trying to sell my flat (my first home, that I owned) and I am getting divorced.

Leaving the UK behind was very emotional, something I may still not have got over and now I am moving again from somewhere I once thought would be my new home. I love the city I live in now and for the most part I love the Country. I have had so many thoughts about living here and calling this place my home. My new life with my new girlfriend. And now I'm going to have to leave here, move again. It's too soon. I want to cry every time I think about it but I can't because every minute I'm not smiling they get upset or pissed off with me. But also they need me to be strong for them, they have so much more to deal with than I do and they need me to be happy. I am trying so hard to not let everything get to me.
To make it worse we are moving to the U.S. and I am having serious worries about being allowed into the country. It's another thought that is with me almost every minute of every day. "What if they refuse me entry?" Whilst I am allowed to stay in this country until mid-March I wouldn't have anywhere to live unless someone could put me up. Again, I want to cry every time I think about it. I hated the four weeks I was in the UK between trips to this country and I don't want to be apart from them again.
There are more personal aspects to my life that don't help with the whole "life is wonderful", I was seeing a counselor for them and those thoughts are yet another constant companion.

So occasionally I fuck up and I stress out over the stupidest of things. But it's not over-cooking bacon or getting a roux wrong that pisses me off, I know they are silly things and ordinarily I really wouldn't care but sometimes the silly little things are the proverbial straw. And it was this time and I did get pissed off and I did swear about it and it did mightily piss them off (a reaction I wasn't expecting) and they did shout at me, a lot and they cried and I fought back tears because I hate seeing them upset. They again told me that their lives were easier without me and again my head fills with thoughts about am I right for them, should I be here, are they going to split up with me?

Several years ago, after my mum died I went into counseling for therapy which also covered anger issues and I created a mantra to get me through situations that made me angry; at the time it was "be nice James" and I'd say it out loud every time someone carved me up on the road or I saw something that pissed me off. It sort of worked (the "happy pills" did their part too) so now I have a new mantra: "It's only bacon".
Now I know there are people on Twitter that would unfollow me for such a blasphemous expression but hey ho...

I do struggle with emotions, especially now whilst there is so much to think (worry) about. I do get angry and I do get upset but unlike Frankie it's just me in "here", I don't have anyone to push my emotions on to, I have to deal with them myself and it's not always an easy thing to do. I can't palm them off onto anyone else and carry on my day in a semi-blissful semi-ignorance. I have to try and deal with it or bury it (and I know how well that goes) and try and feign the smile they want to see all the time.

Of course they make me happy and of course I am happy to be here with them, to be starting my new life with them. I love them and somewhere in me I am ecstatic about it but I can't always muster that enough. I've always struggled with negative thoughts being dominant but I am working on it and I am getting better.
Moving into "The Mother's" basement brings its own stresses but once we are in the states (assuming I get across the border) then that is one less worry.

Yes, for now, a deep breath and forced smile because after-all, it's only bacon...

A Day With Melody

I got to spend an entire day with Melody today (13th October), it was a wonderful day and I wanted to share it.

About Melody: The first place to see a short introduction to Melody is on their mapping site http://wearejcmf.blogspot.com/. In short Melody is a 12 year old alter, her age chosen by herself because she didn't want the grief of being an adult and all the emotions / hurt that goes along with that. A part of this is also to do with her role with in the "et al" - Melody is the one that helps them get over bad experiences and she acts as a mediator, something she can only do well if she is free from emotions and can therefore remain impartial. She doesn't take sides, she doesn't have favourites and she doesn't (tries not to) have feelings. As well as being able to shut these out for herself she can also help take emotions and feelings from the group which helps them recover from upsets.
I have started to keep track of the switching, noting as best as I can who is around, what the day has been like and any possible triggers. Here's part of my notes for this day:

Melody is not supposed to let feelings and emotions effect her (this is my take on it, the alternative being that she is just not capable but I know that’s not true) yet she has been down, sad and a little moody; She seems to suffer with the negative emotions. I wonder if the others push their negative emotions onto her just as they might push feelings of paranoia onto Catherine.

What this means for me is that Melody can sometimes appear emotionally cold though that's not always true. The lack of emotions and feelings is something Melody chose, in that she tries not to have them though there are occasional slips. The important thing though is that when it matters, she is able to push them all away.
I've written before how Melody once said that she "will try not to be around too long" because she thinks I'd rather be with someone that can show affection towards me. Cassandra once said it too and to both of them I responded by saying they should never think that, that I always love being with them, with any of them. And today I got to spend an entire day with Melody and it was a really good day.

Something I'll add here as it's a thought that I want to keep: There have been times recently when I would have liked to be with Melody and talk to her about things (mainly about me, partly about "us") and it would have been good to speak with someone that can remain impartial and someone I can talk to about my idiocies knowing any answers I'd get were just as impartial read: "100% honest" (not implying any of the others are dishonest).

I was feeling quite ill today and Melody did everything she could to help me and look after me, including offering to make lunch for us. We played video games and watched a movie and we got a real chance to talk. Several times Melody even allowed herself to laugh at a few things.

Unlike the others, Melody (along with Sam) doesn't particularly enjoy being on twitter but does so because "it's the rules". Melody has her own things that she likes doing but is seldom given the chance to do them and this can upset her (as much as she does get upset) and given the chance (I told her she should do the things she likes doing and if necessary I will speak to the others about it) she would do research and look at news.
Frank et al: Melody isn't around much and I know there are "rules" about what needs to be done during the day but please, I'm asking you, give her some slack.

Towards the end of the day, when we were sitting on the sofa talking I used her name a lot but the next day I was told that she requested I didn't as it makes her uncomfortable, in what way I didn't ask.

In short today was a great day and I enjoyed being with Melody. She got a little down (yes, more "emotions") because she felt she hadn't been very productive but over all it was a fun day. Melody did say though that she doesn't like being "out" so long and would rather someone else was executive but as with any of them, I'd love to spend more time with her.

Melody: (sorry, can't think how to address this to you without using your name) Thank you for this day, I hope we get to spend more time together if you can stand it. Please don't ever think that I wouldn't want to spend time with you.
I love you Mel... Sorry, I love you. Thank you.

O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!

This blog is a medium for me to share what it is like to live with (in a romantic *bleugh* sense) someone that has Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID) commonly referred to as Multiple Personality Disorder (MPD), in this case my girlfriend, Frankie (on twitter as @JstCallMeFrank). It is also to allow Frankie to get insights into their life from an outside perspective (thus the title, Frank From The Outside). However, nearly all my posts are about the bad days and so I wanted to try and address that.

If you read the blog and you're a little dim, you might believe that our life, our relationship is one long nightmare but if you pay a little more attention you'll notice that I don't write every day, maybe twice a week. So that leaves at least 5 days a week that I don't write, mainly because those 5 days are  good days, days where our relationship is wonderful, and it is. If you pay even more attention you'll see that when I do blog about a bad day it's a fraction of day, a few hours maybe. Of course we do have our less than perfect moments that I don't blog about but then what couple doesn't (maybe a couple who met on Facebook and think Monday mornings are fabulous; we call them "cunts that need stabbing")? But overall our relationship really is wonderful (what? I haven't used that word for a while). Yes, I could write more about the good days, maybe I will, but one, it would get very repetitive and two, it would possibly dilute the blog and make it difficult to be useful to it's purpose. Oh, a third, if I blogged about every minor detail of our life (barring the sex, I'm not writing about that, Emmie might, but I'm not) you might all think we're 'normal' and we are most certainly not having that.

All that matters is that whilst my blog posts describe some probably quite horrific by 'normal' standards bad times, it is in NO way a representation of our day-to-day relationship.

Having a girlfriend with DID isn't an easy relationship (I appreciate there are people with DID that are far less able to cope with it but I'm talking about Frankie) to have. Frankie et al consists of Ten alters and just like being in any group, not everyone will like you but there I am very lucky, far more than the odds would dictate do like me, some even love me. Only one in fact doesn't like me at all but she doesn't seem to like anyone.

Even so, it's not easy pleasing everyone and their condition (not happy about that word) can make it difficult, for example, one might ask something of me or want to do something (I am NOT talking about sex) but another may either have no knowledge of it or not want the same thing and regardless of whether I spot the switch, it can cause stressful moments. It is especially hard when it's about emotions.

But overall, we have a fantastic relationship. I love them and they love me (mostly). We have a huge amount in common and we do do 'normal' couple things - we go for walks, we watch films, we play games, we even on occasion talk to each other and I don't just mean via Twitter.

This is the second time I've written this post, I deleted the last one as it just didn't seem to fulfill its purpose and now I'm struggling again to do so. Like I said, without describing our days in fine detail there really isn't much I can tell you. We are happy, our relationship is wonderful and they are apparently very lucky to have me...

What's our secret to this blissful harmony? Wine. Wine and Twitter. Wine, Twitter and sex. Angry sex. And wine. [Hey! That's a tweet!]

Perfect Ten

"10" (link takes you off site to imdb.com) - A film from the 70's with Dudly Moore, Bo Derek and Julie Andrews.

Perfect Ten (link takes you off site to youtube.com) - A song by The Beautiful South.

Ten - One more than Nine.

If you follow Frankie's blogs, http://just-call-me-frank.blogspot.com/ and http://wearejcmf.blogspot.com you'll know that they are aware there may be a tenth alter (personality) but they need to do some more mapping (see second link) to find out more about them.

The other day (7th October) I had the pleasure to meet them. They don't have a name yet and DON'T want one other than that they are happy to be called "Ten". When I was first aware that Ten was about (out / executive) I was slightly confused. I thought it was Melody though they were showing far too many emotions to be Melody but they sounded just like her (they each have slightly different speaking voices in the sense of accent, pitch and tone as well as vocabulary). They were a lot like Ivy in personality but I knew it wasn't Ivy. As I was talking to Ten (at this point unaware) we were talking about me not knowing who they were. Melody has shown emotion towards me though for her role within the et al she cannot allow herself to give in to emotions but of the nine I knew about it was Melody I was most certain it could be and was curious to find out about the very happy emotions she was showing. So in my usual way I put my mouth to their ear and whispered "Melody". A pause. A fraction of a second pause but Melody would have answered straight away. I linger for a second more before moving my head back so I could look at them and they are quiet. I think I've got it wrong again but just as I think this this they say "I don't know". Sorry, I need to back track, part of our conversation before this was that they currently had a sense of not knowing who they were. I put it down to it being Ivy and Melody and them being both so close to executive that it was blurring the identity. So when they said "I don't know" it wasn't much a surprise.

I thought of a question to try and narrow it down: "What are your feelings towards me?" They answer "something close to love" and I know it's neither Ivy nor Melody and I know it must be Ten. "Hi" I say all smiles and I hug them. We spend some time talking, one subject being the possibility that they are another twin, the obvious choices being one of Melody or Ivy. I suspect Melody based purely on voice but if Ten is Melody's twin then unlike Melody, Ten chose to continue aging. The head is Melody's but the personality is very much Ivy and again, age wise, they are very much older than their years however old they are (probably no more than late teens / early twenties).

Ten stays around for a short while and we talk some more and laugh.

Ten came out again last night (Saturday 8th October) whilst we were watching a film (28 days later), which was a small relief as up till then I got to 'enjoy' Brooke's company (Sorry, that's harsh, as slightly awkward as is was to be with Brooke I was hoping she would stick around more, she did manage to not completely piss me off or upset me and we were quite civil to each other). One thing about Ten.. My God she can talk! She talked all the way through the film (she didn't like it at all and was keen to point out the plot holes) and we had a really really fun evening (and again the following morning). Ten is fun and cheeky and sarcastic (like Ivy) and we take the piss from each other. (Ivy, don't be jealous!). Did I mention Ten can talk?

I think I'll be "seeing" a lot of Ten if these past 48 hours are anything to go by. I hope that doesn't upset the others but for the sake of the mapping I'll be taking notes and asking questions. I also suspect I'll be writing a lot more about them.

Yes, I like Ten. I like that she has found herself. I like that she is a positive influence on the et al. Of course I like her because she doesn't hate me... I worry that she may make some others jealous but we'll deal with that if it's an issue.

Oh yes, I like her because she isn't so keen on Twitter and unlike all of the others (Sam isn't so keen neither) didn't feel the need to check twitter as soon as she got up and got the today's important list of "To-dos" done first.

So, Frank et al, the perfect ten. *grins*
